One day in the Thermen Londerzeel spa in 2015

In October 2015, we decided to try the Thermen Londerzeel spa. Like always in Belgium, men and women are mixed and swimsuits are not allowed.

Where is the Thermen Londerzeel spa ?

Thermen Londerzeel is located in Londerzeel, in the north of Belgium. This small town of about 17 000 inhabitants lies in the province Flemish Brabant, in the region Flanders. It is halfway between Brussels and Antwerp. Count with 30 minutes from the Belgian capital, 35 minutes from Antwerp and one and half an hour from Lille.

The car park

Thermen Londerzeel has a closed private car park for free.

Children

Like often in Flanders, children are welcome. There is no limit in age to access to the Londerzeel spa. We have been there on a Friday during school time, so it is difficult to know if there are many children during the holidays or weekends.

The reception

The reception is spacious and modern. In 2015, the price for a day was 29,90 € for an adult and 22 € for a child under 12 years. If you are not equipped, you can rent a bathrobe, a towel and buy flip-flops.

The changing rooms

At the end of the welcoming, the receptionist will ask your first name and each adult will receive a set of two keys. The number refers to locker. The lockers are divided over the different small changing rooms. Have a look on the board to find out in which changing room your locker is. The Thermen Londerzeel are mixted and without swimsuit, also the changing rooms are mixed and open. The lockers are very big. You can put your stuff on a bench when you are changing. Once you have put your bathrobe, don't forget to close your locker. The small key closes the door lock and the bigger key is for the padlock. A small poster indicates that you can your objects of value in the lockers at the reception desk. For a better security, the corridors leading to the changing rooms are filmed.

The entrance of the spa

At the entrance of the spa, you will find on the right the toilets for men and women, and on the left the showers. The use of the shower is of course obligatory before you enter in the spa area. Soap, blue and pink bath salt are provided. After the shower, you must leave your set of keys at the bar-restaurant.

The inside facilities

The inside part of the Thermen Londerzeel is organized around a swimming pool of 8 by 5 metres at 24° C.
Along the pool, there are recliners to rest. A bit higher on the right, there is a bar-restaurant.
On the left, there is the Austrian sauna at 80° C, a steam bath, the aquarium sauna, the big whirlpool and hot and cold baths.
On the right, you will discover the relaxation room, the infrared sauna and the panoramic bio sauna at 80° C with view on the outside area.

The outside facilities

The outside part is composed of a big heated swimming pool of 32° C and different saunas. The Kelo sauna is made of timber logs and has a chimney (90° C). The Eclipse sauna has a cylindrical form and has a salt stones of the Himalaya finish. And last but not least, there is the big sauna at 90° C where the sauna infusions take place. There are in the garden also a cold bath, a terrace, sun beds...

The sauna infusions

The sauna infusion of 2 p.m. takes place in the big outside sauna sticked to the building. The theme was eucalyptus. The employee in charge has done it very well ! With his movements and his voice, he has succeeded to create a relaxed and cosy ambiance. During the short break, wedges of orange and grapefruit have been served. Other sauna infusions followed at 4 p.m. and later on.

The bar-restaurant

The bar-restaurant has a varied menu. We have tried the pepper soup and the vegetarian pasta. The soup was delicious and the pasta very tasty and copious.

Our opinion

There are 4 things that we have liked a lot at Thermen Londerzeel :

- The aquarium sauna : one of the saunas has an aquarium with a length of several metres. Tens of fishes and two or three jellyfishes float in the water, giving you a glimpse from time to time. It is like being in a sauna on the bottom of the sea ! It was the preferred sauna of our son of nine.

- The Austrian sauna : it is inside the building, you pass a door and you come in a cold corridor bordered by wood trunks. After the next door, you will find a big room with a winter landscape including snow and ice ! On the end, a chalet with the sauna. It is the first time we see such a winter landscape built inside. Really amazing !

- The heated swimming pool outside : it is a real pleasure to swim and to relax in such a big and warm outside pool.

- The sauna infusion : the employee in charge, knows very well his job and he did it very good. The relaxing effect was optimal.
