Piémanson naturist beach

Piémanson naturist beach is located at 11 km at the south of the village of Salin-de-Giraud, in the middle of the Camargue.

The village of Salin-de-Giraud has been created in 1856. It has about 2000 inhabitants. It is attached to the city of Arles, located at 38 km (Bouches-du-Rhône). Its creation and its development are due to the presence of two companies that came to operate the salt of the salt marshes. The result is an original industrial and worker's architecture in the Camargue. The village has been built in two quarters, the quarter Péchiney and the quarter Solvay, one zone by company !

Between the highlights around Salin-de-Giraud, we can mention :

- The bullring and the orthodox church of Salin-de-Giraud.
- The salt marshes just at the exit of the village (a very nice point of view for free, see lower).
- Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône and its tower Saint-Louis that you can reach with the ferry of Barcarin crossing the Rhône just before Salin-de-Giraud.
- Arles and its Roman amphitheatre, at 38 km.
- Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and its fortified church, at 60 km.
- Aigues-Mortes with its ramparts and salt marshes, at 70 km.

1 Go to Salin-de-Giraud, or by the D36, or by the D35B followed by the ferry of Barcarin.

If you arrive by the D36, you will pass the signboard of the entry of the village, then cross a little bridge before a crossroad. At the crossroad, continue straight ahead by following the sign "Camping". The beach is not indicated yet, which is a pity.
A bit farther, continue straight ahead on the D36D, by following the sign "Plage de Piemanson".

If you arrive by the ferry of Barcarin, continue straight ahead until the crossroad and take to the left, the D36D, by following the sign "Plage de Piemanson".

2 Cross Salin-de-Giraud.

3 At 400 m after the exit of Salin-de-Giraud, we advise you to stop at the car park on your right to benefit from the wonderful point of view on the salt marshes. A promontory has been created and on its top you can make very nice pictures. The whole thing is for free and interesting. Informative boards in French and in English explain the harvesting of salt. There is also a board only in French about the birds. Not to miss ! The beach will certainly wait for you another quart an hour ...

4 After your stop at the promontory, continue straight ahead about 11 km until the car park at the entry of Piémanson naturist beach.

5 If you want to park as close as possible to the naturist beach, park at the back of the car park on the left. At the time of "wild camping", certain get sticked in the sand and it was difficult to tear them out of the sand. This risk seems not to exist anymore with the well delimited car park.

6 Go to the beach on your left and pass the sign board "Plage naturiste 600 m".

7 Continue like this until you reach the beginning of the naturist part, unmissable with the big blue and yellow boards.
