Pissevaches naturist beach is located in the north of the seaside resort Saint-Pierre-la-Mer in the Aude department, between the lake of Pissevaches and the ex-naturist campsite La Grande Cosse.
It is difficult to speak about Pissevaches naturist beach without speaking about the ex-naturist campsite La Grande Cosse... A bit of history... During a long time, the campsite La Grande Cosse has been naturist. It had a direct access to a splendid naturist beach, perfect for the naturist tourists !
Unfortunately, in 2016 (as far as I remember), an important chain of textile campsites has bought La Grande Cosse. After having tried to keep it naturist one season, they decided to transform it in an ordinary campsite in 2017.
What about the naturist beach ? It was obvious that there could not be a naturist beach just in front of the textile campsite, this would be a mismatch !
It was also clear that the naturist movement didn't want to loose its naturist beach.
We wondered if the naturist beach would be placed before or after La Grande Cosse ? When we arrived, we had no idea and by discussing with naturists present on the site we have understood that the naturist beach was splitted in two parts !
So now, there is an official naturist beach before La Grande Cosse and another after. In other words, the textile beach of La Grande Cosse is bordered by two official naturist beaches, which is rather rare ! Usually, it is rather the opposite !
We have decided to deal with these two beaches seperately because the accesses are far from each other and different and even the ambiance is completely different.
Pissevaches naturist beach, between Saint-Pierre-la-Mer and La Grande Cosse, pleases to naturists fond of room and quietness. When we were there, on the 14th of August 2019, there were about hundred naturists dispatched more or less every 30 metres.
Cabanes de Fleury naturist beach, between La Grande Cosse and Les cabanes de Fleury, receives more people. The naturists are tight and the textile tourists seem also to lack in room in their part... See our page about Cabanes de Fleury naturist beach.

Pissevaches naturist beach is located in the north of the village Saint-Pierre-la-Mer.
Saint-Pierre-la-Mer is a seaside resort in the Aude department, in the Occitanie region. It depends on the municipality of Fleury.
Between the highlights around Saint-Pierre-la-Mer, we would like to mention particularly :
- The Mediterranean with the sandy beaches.
- The market and the fair of Saint-Pierre-la-Mer.
- The "gouffre de l'Oeil doux" in Fleury (Massif de la Clape).
- The houses on stilts become famous thanks to the French film "Betty Blue" ("37°2 le matin") in Gruissan-Plage at 13 km.

How to reach Pissevaches naturist beach ?
1 The most simple, if possible, is to join Saint-Pierre-la-Mer by the north, via the "chemin de la Draye des Chaudières".
2 About ten metres after the board signposting the beginning of the village "Saint-Pierre-la-Mer, commune de Fleury d'Aude", take the first on your left, by following the signboard "Plage naturiste".
3 Continue straight ahead, passing between the camper van area on your left and the municipal campsite on your right.
4 Arrived at the end of the road, park on the car park in front of the tennis courts and the sailing school.
5 Take the path along the lake of Pissevaches to the left (not towards the watersports centre). Vehicles are blocked by a wooden barrier. On the right of the barrier stays a big board titled "site naturel protégé : étang de Pissevaches", which means Natural protected site : lake of Pissevaches. On the board, it is written in the item "A savoir" or « Good to know » that naturism is authorized on a part of the beach.
6 Walk 370 m to reach a junction.
7 Beware, continue straight ahead by crossing the little bridge just in front (don't follow on your right the large track that borders the lake of Pissevaches).
8 Walk towards the beach. After 630 metres, you will reach a small white board "Zone naturiste" indicating the area where naturism is authorized. The more you go to the north, the more you will be isolated. Just keep in mind to stop before you reach the textile campsite La Grande Cosse !
